Now, The Shoe Line!

Before checking into the "resort"; which was about a week or so ago, I presented my new spring 2007 shoe collection to the Global Market at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. This was the one thing I had to do before commiting myself to the retreat. I flew there directly from Las Vegas, and their was no turning back. It was phenominal, and I am looking forward to seeing all of you children strutting your stuff this gay pride season. The collection will be available at www.kevinavianceworld.com as well as at select boutiques around the globe in March. So stay tuned for the official public launch.

Each shoe has its own character, and stands for something significant of its name. It was inspired by many of you; including my dear mother Ercelle - A superwoman. My first love. And how ironic that it was the very first shoe to recieve a ton of orders at market. She is shining down on me every step of the way.

I also owe it to you, my fans, friends, and loved ones. You are all a part of my recovery, as well as my success. Thank you!!!

Stay well, and be strong, as I will continue to work on myself everyday. After all, Life is a work in progress. Its get better and better every day.

Happy Valentines Day

Much Love,

Kevin Aviance

Where am I Now?

Hello Children,

Its been a while since I've posted my where abouts to my blog.

I can only imagine that you all are probably wondering, where is this QUEEN? Is he ok? Did he fall of the beaten path? and so on, and so on. Well today, I've come to terms with myself to tell you all the truth, and let you know where I stand.

Since the passing of my mother; who I miss so much, and the brutal attack against me last summer, its been really hard to cope with alot of my emotions on a day-to-day basis. You have either seen me out or read my funny blog stories, and probably just imagined that everything was ok - quite hunky dory for a lack of better words, and said to yourself this queen better work it out. The truth is that through all of that, I was hurting so much inside, that I was self medicating the pain. So much to the point that I was way off to the deep end. I've finally realize that I can not go on living my life this way, so I've decided to check-in to a resort at an un-disclosed location far far away - which is where I am writing this blog to you from right now.

Now, if I am allowed to brag, I can honestly tell you that everything here is "quite hunky dory." I am really dealing with all of my issues, the correct way! I am proud that I have made the decision to break the cycle, and hope that you my fans, friends, family, and love ones would help me to spread the word of sobriety - it is the best gift that anyone could ever want for themselves. It feels like I have died, and come back, and will be back even stronger than I said or you thought I was. I am truly living now.

"We have a responsibility to help others grow and improve. We are truly all in the same boat – we all sink or swim together. " - Michael Berg, The Kabbalah Center.

I am eating properly, and regularly. I wake up at 7AM every morning. I work out and take a dance class everyday. I am writing new lyrics everyday. I am sketching the fall collection for my shoe line. I meet with my counselor everyday. I have group meetings as well. Its quite the recovery, children. It feels great, and I am grateful to share this part of my life with all of you, if not the world. I embrace you all with love, and thank you for all of your support.

I'll be back sooner than you think!

With Love,

Kevin Aviance

A Coated Christmas

I woke up this morning with alot on my mind:

First and foremost I want to thank God for allowing me to pump through life and still be so interested in achieving my goals. I realized yesterday that if something does not have meaning I cannot support it in anyway, no mater what it is.

I am currently working on a CHRISTMAS holiday show, and I intend on including various special guests in the show. Today I began calling everyone to get confirmation on their appearance, and I hadn't realized that I wasn't selling the idea strongly enough. It wasn't until I called the last person on my list, left a message, and then the idea came to me. How about a "COATED CHRISTMAS" with Kevin Aviance and Special Guests? I think that's ovah! I am asking all attendees to bring a coat that they feel they don't have any use for anymore, and donate it to the NY CARES ANNUAL COAT DRIVE. The coats can be used or new, but must be in wearable condition and of course cleaned. All the performers will be required to do the same. Now if that's not an excellent concept, I don't know.

Join me and my special holiday guests for an evening of cheer and lots of cutting up. Tuesday Dec 12, 2006 @ Rebel - 251 W. 30th Street Bet. 7th & 8th Aves. VIP Holiday Pre-Party 7:30PM. General Admission 9PM. Showtime 9:30PM. Tickets Go on Sale right after Thanksgiving. VIP $35 - Open Bar 7:30 - 9PM. General Admission $20. At the door $25. A portion of the proceeds to benefit my participation in amfAR's Trek Africa Journey - AIDS Relief Efforts.

Check the website for more information on how to purchase advance tickets.

The Courage Awards

Last Night, THE NEW YORK CITY GAY AND LESBIAN ANTI-VIOLENCE PROJECT CELEBRATED THE 10th ANNUAL COURAGE AWARDS at Gotham Hall in Manhattan. It was hosted by the incomparable BD Wong of Law & Order: SVU - who was superb. They were honoring Channel 7's hot studd weather man / anchor Sam Champion, one of CNN's senior producers Rose Arce, The Ali Forney Center, and Law & Order: SVU executive producer Neal Baer for all the wonderful work they do for the LGBT community.

For the past ten years, the Anti-Violence Project has selected outstanding individuals, community-based organizations and companies who deserve special recognition for their leadership, “courage,” and service on behalf of the City's lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual and HIV-affected communities, and particularly on behalf of victims of violence. On this important anniversary, the Anti-Violence Project took the opportunity to celebrate some invaluable allies in the shared effort to eliminate violence both against and within the LGTB community.

The Anti-Violence Project was the organization that took care of me right after my attack this past summer. They will remain as a very important organization in my life; as they took very good care of my well being.

Sam Champion said it best last night when he was called up to accept his award. He said that I was an example of courage; to be able to be in this room looking so amazing after being brutally attacked by a bunch of cowards. He summoned me to stand-up so the rest of the room could see who I was. Drowned in tears, I stood up to accept his warm words of courage. I felt truly blessed to be here on this earth; especially in a room with my LGBT family.

Additional celebrities and elected officials who attended include Tamara Tunie (pictured above with her husband) and Richard Belzer (pictured with me and his pooch) from Law and Order Special Victims Unit and Zulema Griffin from Season Two of Project Runway as well as New York State Assemblymembers Daniel O’Donnell and Deborah Glick, City Councilmembers Rosie Mendez and David Yassky. I also had the opportunity to meet Ryan (pictured right); the guy who was attacked on the isle of St. Martin, as well as Michael Sandy's parents.

Thanks to Clarence Patton, the executive director, for the all the work that he and his staff at AVP do so well. THIS EVENT WAS SO CORRECT. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE SPEECHES. I LAUGHED AND CRIED.

Honorable Aviance

On Friday Clik Magazine selected me as one of twenty-five individuals that will be honored at the CLIK HONORS / Elite 25, presented by DELTA Air Lines Inc.

Here is what they had to say: Your work and support has paved the way for the enhancement of the Black same-gender loving community and for that we thank you.

Here is what I have to say: I am so moved, and overhwelmed at the same time to be recognized by my fellow gay brothers and sisters. To the point where I really dont know what to say, but thank you for embracing my life, and making me proud to hold my head-up high. Thank you for honoring me. This is so ovah, and certainly bigger than me. I am living for this honor, and look forward to being there.

With Love,

Kevin Aviance

Viva La Madison Avenue

Upper Madsion Avenue wasn't the same after I graced the A.S. Parker boutique for the fall/winter trunk show for Lui Antinous's Handbag Collection. It was gorgeous! I wined and nibbled; while scoping out all of the must-haves from his collection. There was a very interesting crowd in attendance; very artistic and non-conforming - which was certainly a treat for me. It reminded me of the private collection showings from back-in-the-days; which was very chic and on point. You can catch his collection and accessories out on http://www.antinouscouture.com

A night out, Unzipped!

Wednesday’s night out was very a la social belle Epoch. Photographed Film Noir style.

My business manager and I had a long list of social reveling and charitable serving to accomplish by the nights end. We started off at Barney’s New York for the launch of Lanvin’s Menswear Fall/Winter collection, hosted by HRH Andre Leon Talley. Perched in a chocolate brown leather boot from the Highest Heel Collection, a black skirt with lots of ruching and gathering for your nerve, black trousers as the underpinning, a corseted belt adorned with a mantra of keys – each one accessible to every penthouse in NYC, a gauzy-like top, and a tailored dinner jacket. I was ready to take on the press. We arrived to a sea of photographers shouting out my name, Mr. Talley waving his hands like a wand perched on top a queen ann desk, and a wait staff of about 10 serving up the only bubbly bruit ha ha. It was ovah, ovah! This was the first time to be greeted by Mr. Talley ever so gracefully. He actually said hello, and took a moment for a photo-op with me. I gagged. He lost a lot of the excess weight, and looks fabulous. And of course he was sporting the only couture number, darling! In a rush to see what Lanvin was serving up, H.B. Nelson, a dear friend and associate at Barney’s showed me the way to the cutting-up. The collection featured English style riding jackets with fur collars, tuxedo like shirts; one in olive green, a smoky grey, and the other in eggplant, a short-cropped vest that was hot-to-trot in, and trousers that were oh-so slimming – perfect for me. I was in awe, and wanted every bit of it, but Dexter was like miss thing you are carrying - have another glass of champaigne, dear! Ok, so the couture was off limits, and now I was after the wait staff. There was this tall and sexy brother who looked good as the chocolate covered strawberries that he brought around and around over 6 times and planted on my palette. By then I had already top off a bottle of the bubbly bruit ha ha, and all I have to say is “YUM”! He was loverly, honey. I also ran into Emil Wilberkin, who was the editor of Vibe Magazine. We scurried up to the collection, and had a very long conversation about what he is currently doing and what I would like to work on with him; which is the Kevin Aviance version of Mahogany. He is very interested, and we will be talking further. Before you know it the party was winding down and it was time to hit the next event on the list. We headed down to Lotus to do a meet & greet at a fundraiser benefiting Rivington House (the first and largest AIDS-specific long-term care facility in the country) located here in Manhattan. I also donated a signed photograph of me posing for the cover of “STRUT” – my single to their silent auction and raffle drawing, and wanted to be present to congratulate the winner. Ya know most celebrated entertainers always donate items to these charitable functions, but almost all the time are never present to magnify the support. I feel that if I am going to be a part of a charitable organization, by lending my name and likeness, I want to fully support them by being in attendance. So I pressed up in there lovely, honey! Melvin Francisquini, the event organizer was delighted to see me, as well as the other attendees. They were very surprised to see that I made it. So all you artists that donate items or enlist your name as co-chair for a charitable event, please attend because it makes a huge difference for their supporters. The person, who won the signed photograph of me, was this woman who wrote a fat check. She and her loverly man in hand took a hold of the framed photo and marched on knowing that they just helped someone dying from AIDS. I am happy that I was able to do that. Children make a difference. It’s worth every penny.

Next we were off to Nikki Beach; a hot trendy lounge midtown east to celebrate style aficionado Nole Marin birthday of Top Model last season. We arrived just in the nick-of-time to cling glasses with the fashion diva. Wasting no time, I stepped up onto the runway as he came out for the final bow of his runway show. This was all part of Dexter egging me on to go up there. The Paparazzi just started clicking away, honey. With my back to the paparazzi, all I could imagine was Dexter just ki ki ing away. The bitch lives for the press. With no way to exit once I was up there, I was forced to strut right back down the runway to an army of brazilian glamazons coming for me the other way, and naturally I was head-up with the press; which is exactly what Dexter had in mind. It was a genious egg-on I must say. We then headed up to the VIP room, where all the birthday madness was taking place. All the fashionistas were perch; from Menswear designer Loris Durant, makeup artist to the stars John O - ya know, the other Jacky O to Aaron; Lindsey Lohan’s right-hand makeup guy, and whole of house of champagne infused supermodels. It was a fierce gathering of 7th on 6th – midtown east.

The clock was ticking honey, and time was running out. We still had 3 more parties to attend. Further up on East 58th Street we attended the preview opening of OW BAR & Lounge. That was a quick kiki, because by this time the doll had a little too much bubbly and needed to pause for a minute and grab a bite. After that we sped downtown R Bar to catch Galen, my friend and photographer/writer of the gay circuit mags to help celebrate his birthday. That was a hoot. The bar was really cool looking. They had go-go dancing poles on each side the of bar, with red-leather quilted walls. HOT!!!! Also, there was a grand entrance – perfect for any queen to cut a runway; which is what I did to make my entrance. It was ovah! By now we were all 3 sheets-to-the-wind, and it was time to press uptown to our last stop on list; which was The Ritz, a very chic bar/lounge in the heart of Hells Kitchen. We fell up in there; delighted that it was the final stop for the evening. We hung out with Tommy the owner, and chatted about me filling in for Gomi next Friday October 27. So come by and listen to me turnout some fierce music. Yes, I will be spinning, honey!!!!! Catch ya later!

STRUT TONIGHT

Come on out tonight at STRUT - W. 30th Street Bet. 7th & 8th Aves. 10PM - No Cover. I will be spinning legendary sounds. Its gorgeous!

Hope to see ya there.

WHERE WAS EVERYONE?

I don't know how to start this one off today, but all I know is that I am very dissappointed - a bit angry!

Yesterday's turn-out at the rally to put a stop to hate crimes - in the LGBT Community particularly - was just shamefull. Yes, Michael Sandy wasn't someone who was a popular fixture in NYC, but he was one of us - a gay man trying to survive in a hateful world. I was very embarassed to be one of the many few there representing our community, but at the same time proud to stand up for what I think is only right; justice for us all!!! This could have been your brother, sister, lover, or even your mother. Their is no excuse good enough to have prevented anyone of you gay children from being there - or straight for that matter if you believe in humanity. Children, wake-up before its too late. We've go to support each other!!!!

You supported me, right? I am angry, and asking WHY YOU WEREN'T THERE TO SUPPORT "OUR" COMMUNITY?

Back from Tucson with Pride

Today, I am back in NY from my GiG in TUCSON, Arizona.

But, before I get into the kiki's and tra la la la la's, I just want to say how sadden I am about the passing of my fellow Gay Black Brother - MICHEAL SANDY; who was savagely beaten, and killed for being GAY. I didn't personally know him, but my heart goes out to his family and friends. Him passing to the same drama I went through, has really gagged me. I received a phone call from a somewhat friend that was very upset and told me, "GURL YOU KNOW YOU COULD HAVE DIED?" I don't know what this person was thinking on the other line, but my reaction was silenced; as if the twisted metal wires were clamped down on my jaw again. I mean, yes I am alive - and very fortunate, but MISS THANG - the nerve of someone to come out their face like that. While I was silent, I just asked GOD TO GIVE ME THE RIGHT THING TO SAY, and it was nothing. I just kept my mouth shut! That's another story, for another day. It's called "HOW DARE YOU".

If you can't make it to the rally today, you can see it on your local news tonight
or even look it up on the web. I will have a full story for you on that tommorrow.

WELL the Gig was amazing! I got to perform on an great stage for TUCSON's GAY PRIDE, and hung-out with some ole gurl friends. First, I WANNA GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO MY SISTER MRS. ULTRA NATE - LOLOlollololoLOLLO. WOW I have known this woman and her body of work for most of my gay life. She is all over my life soundtrack. Her new song, LOVE IS THE DRUG" is OVAH, and one of my favorite's when I am spinning at my party STRUT on THRUSDAY'S at REBEL. She was there with a friend of hers; who was my teacher of "the runway walk" - during the TRACKS DC DAYS. His name is MISS JONATHAN. We were reminiscing about all of the gurls; some who are alive, and some who have passed on . Oh how I MISS THOSE DAYS. Especially ALL OF THOSE BLACK OVAH QUEENS - CARRRYING ON . WOW!!!!! THANK YOU DC.

Earlier, yesterday I had gotten a call from Miss LONNIE GORDON. She was checking up on me and letting me know she was returning to the dance floor - to pump-up the children. IT'S GOING TO BE HOT HOT!!!! She has for the past 3 yrs been in
VEGAS; perfoming w/ another dear friend of mine JOEY ARIES in the Circque de Soliel production of ZUMANITY -
designed by another friend of mine THIERRY MUGLER. Yes, I am NAME DROPPING TODAY. LoLoLoLoL.............FAGS ARE FIERCE, HONEY!!!! We are the ones that make this world a beautiful place.

Anyway, so MISS LONNIE and I will be touching base next week to talk about collaborating on a HOT HOT HOT music project. You will be the first to know when it's done.

The trip was just truly fab. The Gods blessed me with a new person in my life MR. QUENTIN JENKINS (pictured in the purple blouse); he was the one who booked for Tucson, and he is the dj at the club IBT on SATUDAY NIGHTS. He dj'd, weeeeerked the lights, and carried on. WOWOWOWOWOOWOWOOOWWW.......I watched that man all night. His skills are amazing, and he knows his music, darling!

What a pleaure, and thank you for your time and energy. TOUCH ME IN THE MORNING (inside joke) Also, a big thank you to TRAVIS FOR TAKING GREAT CARE OF ME; GETTING ME SLURPEEs. HAPPY GAY PRIDE TUCSON. IT WAS A PLEASURE!!!!! Except for the lesbian who was rude to me during MY SHOW. The audience started throwing things at her, and she still still didn't get the picture - sit yo ass down, and be nice. It was very DRAMATIC AND STUPID ON HER PART. "GOD BLESS YOU, GURL".

BIG KISSES, EVERYONE.

The Kevin Aviance Shoe Collection is in the works. I just finished designing the line, and it is scheduled to launch February 2007. The collection will be made up of 12 - 15 styles; some available in sizes up to 14. Woohoo! In Light of Michael Sandy's Death

As I woke up this morning in sunny Tuscon, Arizona - so sad and angry to find that someone was killed because they were GAY. As you all know this hits close to home with me; as I was a vicitim of a gay hate crime back in June this past summer. AMERICA, WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM? I AM SO SICK TO MY STOMACH, CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO SUCH A THING; JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR SEXUAL PREFERANCE. THAT'S TIRED!!!!!!! This needs to stop. We need to talk to these kids, and educate to them what their parents and piers failed to do. It is especially our government that has paved the way for these things to happen. I am so upset right now. Like I said, I am in Tuscon; here to perform for a few thousand at their annual Gay Pride, and I am at wits end with this breaking news. I really can't even get through this blog, but children I am going to try my best.

I would like to send Love to Michael Sandy's family, friends, and to all of my brothers and sisters who all have to face this type of adversity in the world we live in today. You think that America is a progressive country, well guess what, its not!!!!! How many more attacks and deaths will it take for our government to wake the ^%^&-UP and PROTECT US. We are human beings; we breath the same, blead the same, and shit the same. STEP UP TO THE PLATE, AND LETS STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING.

WE ARE ALL GODS CHILDREN. I DONT CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS, HE LOVES US ALL. AND HE CERTAINLY LOVED MICHAEL SANDY TOO!

Children, feel free to write in to me anytime to tell me how you feel about anything. I am certainly here for everybody; as you guys have given me so much support throughout my career.

May the Lord, GOD bless us and protect us, for these people who have so much hate against us GAY people shall learn that we are wonderful people - children of GOD!!!!!

Please light a candle for MICHAEL SANDY. May he rest in peace.

I am angry, but I am still going to put on an amazing show tonight! He will be with me in spirit!

Tuscon - Get Ready!!!!!

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MICHAEL SANDY

Keith Boykin of BET writes: Michael Sandy, the 29-year-old black gay man who was attacked in a gay bashing incident last Sunday, has died. Sandy reportedly died around noon today after the family decided to remove the life support respirator that had kept him alive. That information has been confirmed by sources close to his family. Police are reportedly considering whether to elevate the charges against the suspects as a result of Sandy's death.

Black LGBT organizers and activists vowed to hold a rally on Monday to demand an end to hate violence in the city and to hold city leaders accountable. The rally is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. on Monday at New York City Hall. The rally is being sponsored by People of Color In Crisis, the New York State Black Gay Network, Gay Men of African Descent, the New York City Anti-Violence Project and the National Black Justice Coalition.

TYRA BANKS on a POSITIVE NOTE!

Needless to say, I also got some really heart warming letters from some viewers.

Here's what some of the lovely children had to say:

Kendra Stuckey Wrote:
I was saddened, angry and disgusted to learn that you were viciously and brutally attacked by a group of ignorant punks. I am thankful that this senseless attack hasn't dimmed your light and made you disappear. You're clearly a beautiful, loving spirit. I saw you on Tyra Banks show today. You were FABULOUS! I LOVED your song "Strut." I got up and danced and applauded you. There isn't any major reason I'm sending this email, I simply wanted you to know that you are truly a gift and a blessing in this universe. I feel your spirit very much. You're wonderful. Keep doing what you do.You are a class act. I'm so happy that you have recovered from that crime. God loves you and so do I.

Kourtney Koscielak Wrote:
I truely know nothing about you and what you do and never heard of you till today when i watched my recording of the Tyra show. When you spoke of your pain and that horrific thing that happened to you i couldn't beleive my ears.(not that i dont beleive things like that happen, grew up around the stories my entire life) But your strength and ability to speak aloud about it pulled at my heart and i was awed by your power to really say how you feel. Most of all i just wanted to send an e-mail and say that your courage and strength i found really touching and en-powering. and to stay so calm while that woman and her daughters spoke im just awed.(because i know i would have lost it, and rage would have been climbing down to their level.)
So i send my heart to you that you will be able to find a very strong strength in what has happened to you and what you have been through. remeber God will never throw more at you then you can handle. he does it to send you a message and show you that you have an inner strength so you can send out the message for people who can't find the words. Thank you for the enlightenment.

Cori Ann Hornbeck Wrote:

Kevin,
I know you don't know me, but I just felt compelled to write to you and tell you that I am sorry to hear what has happened to you with the hate crime against you.  I sat watching the Tyra Banks show, as I always do, and found myself in tears that people need to hate anyone so much as to hurt or kill them.  You   are a very beautiful man, and I am glad to see you survived that brutal attack.   I am  a single mother of two young girls and I always have done my best to teach them that everyone has the right to be who they TRULY are and to not judge them for the fact that they may be different than what a lot of people in this world thinks should be normal.  I don't think anyone in this world is "normal" I don't believe in that word.  I just wish people would stop passing on the hate trait.  Children learn from the actions of the people who they love, so if the adults show hate and don't teach differently then this will never stop.  I commend you for being who you are, and I wish you all the very best.

Sincerely,
Cori Ann Hornbeck

This is just only a few that I am sharing with you, but only if we can get the rest of America or for that matter the World to think and behave like this, we as people in general would be in a much better place.

This was alot to take in, and it only makes me stonger. I am back bigger than ever, and they will never take my spirit away.

GOD HATES FAGS!

Here's what someone wrote to me, after seeing me on the Tyra Banks Show. It hurts me, but tell me what you think; whether your spiritual or not. Keep in mind, man wrote the Bible.

Dante from jacksonville, FL wrote:

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV): "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

I am not here to insult you, but bring to your attention that homosexuality is wrong. I have to agree partly with what the woman was saying yesterday she wasn't angry, or mad, she was passionate, i don't agree that she kept saying that "God hates fags" He doesn't God hates the immoral things you are doing. People should understand that homosexuality is a spirit, not the person, so instead of fighting or getting mad at the person, we should come against the evil spirit. Gods' word is just and final, sexual immorality will not be accepted in His kingdom, (in other words) your going to hell, plain and simple. God loves everybody, He only wants to help you overcome the spirit, only if you'll ask, and if your really. You can't be mad at Christians like me for following Gods' laws and commands, it's the truth, if His word says its wrong then its wrong, there is no farther argument about it. Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand.

She, yes she's got alot of nerves.

When Tyra & Kevin Met Shirley Phelps

I am sure you guys saw the Tyra Banks show today.

Here's what Keith Boykin - a reporter for BET - had to say:

If you ever had any doubt that some of the Christian homophobes are crazy, you weren't watching the Tyra Banks Show today. After a moving interview with gay bashing victim Kevin Aviance, Tyra interviewed outspoken homophobe Shirley Phelps and two of her 11 children. Phelps, a lawyer, is a leader of a group that believes that "God hates fags" and that God intended September 11, Hurricane Katrina, and the tsunami as punishment for the world's wicked ways. But Phelps claims she loves gays. She loves them enough to tell them they're going to hell, she said.

There's no doubt in my mind that the Phelps clan are crazy. These are the same people who picketed Coretta Scott King's funeral and regularly picket the funerals of American soldiers who died in Iraq. They picket because they claim that God is punishing America for tolerating homosexuality. I'm not sure why these people are so hung up on homosexuality, but they clearly don't understand anything about the real world, about God, or about love. And as they sink into their obsession, they have isolated themselves into their own backward, homophobic, pseudo-theocratic cult of ignorance.

Tyra The 'Fag Enabler'
So why exactly are they protesting at the funerals of American soldiers? Because the parents of those soldiers raised their kids for the devil, said Shirley Phelps. Fortunately, Tyra responded. "This to me feels just crazy," she interjected. "For you to be an attorney. This is insane to me," she said. But Phelps would not back down. "I'm not going to sit here and fight with you on my stage," said Tyra, "so please be quiet."

When Phelp's daughter jumped into the conversation to support her mom, Tyra simply accepted the title they had bestowed on her as a "fag enabler," leading Kevin Aviance to stand up from the audience and applaud. "You propagate the fag agenda all over," said one of the daughters. When Tyra asked if they had friends, one of the daughters said "we don't want to be friends with the people in this world."

The girls said they started picketing when they were 5 years old, which in itself is sad. They've never had any other exposure to conflicting ideas. They've never had any friends. And they've spent their entire lives being brainwashed by their bigoted parents.

God is Love
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I believe that God is love. I believe that God created many different people, gay and straight, black and white and many others. And I believe that each of us has a unique role to play. I also believe that religion should be used as a tool for love and not as a weapon of hate. But sadly, there are people out there who would prefer to use their faith as a bludgeon to attack nonbelievers.

People like the Phelps family are the same ones who helped to create the conditions for hate crimes against Kevin Aviance, Michael Sandy and many others. It's sad enough to see adults spewing out this hatred. It's even worse to see how they have indoctrinated their children o repeat the same thoughtless, hateful messages.

It was a gagger, but I was brave enough to tell the world what I had went through. It was hard, but It made me stronger to have embraced the pain these kids cost me. All I wish for people who breath hate, is love. Love Darling!!!!!!!

Black & Blue, Montreal

CHILDREN.........I am so sorry I have not been in touch! I have just been extremely busy, and working on some great projects. Note that if you dont hear from me in a couple of days, just know that I will have all of the news for you all at once. I love blogging my booga boo, so thank you for tuning in. BOOOOO!

So here it is! I just got back from a long weekend in Montreal. I ended up catching the flu bug, and I am scheduled to attend the HX boat party tonight - celebrating their 15 years in existence. Congrats to the GANG at HX. I just cant do it. The doll is wiped out. The children weeeeeeeerked me this weekend.

The Black and Blue Festival was fantastic! I love that city. WOW!!!!! What beauties.......It is a great event. I arrived on friday, and was exhausted already, due to the fact that I was spinning at my weekly gig - called STRUT NYC - the night before. The moment we arrived to the hotel, I quickly hit the sack for an oh so cunty disco nap, honey. But it wasn't so cute until Joseph woke the doll for a sound check. We headed over to Club Medley; where the event was being held. I loved the stage, and the place was very dark -perfect for a leather ball. The sound check went OK so we headed back to the hotel for a little more R & R. As it turned out some friends were staying at the same hotel: EJ and Makuri Aviance, and we connected.

Time just flew by and before we knew it...SHOWTIME! I was really excited about this show. We had a new performance CD made with a new approach and Onyx Noir had designed a fierce new frock for me. I FELT GREAT AND THE SHOW WAS HOT! THANK YOU SERVAIN AND CRAIG FOR ALL THE HELP YOU GUYS GAVE US -- SO PROFESSIONAL!

The next day friends from NYC started showing up everywhere... So we went shopping and got ready for the Military Ball. Also had a great time at DJ's Manny Lehman and Paulette from London. They did a fine job. I love this party Black and Blue. It just amazes me that everyone and everything at this fest is donated. I got to see Jae Aviance perform with another sister named Sheena Hershey. I just LOVE Montreal drag. These gurls turn it out! Congrats on a terrific show.

It really was a great weekend!!!!!!

amfAR Rocked!!!

Yesterday was a very crazy day for me. I ran around town like a supermodel on a go-see frenzy, as if Paris was burning. I headed downtown to get fitted with Darren; who is a fierce up and coming designer that is turning-out all of my red-carpet looks. He stitched up the only Galliano inspired frock for me to make a splash in last night at this years 15th annual amfAR Rocks benefit soire. After my fitting, I headed back uptown to check in on my baby Lola to make sure everything was ok, and it was. The phone was ringing off the hook. First, it was my manager Dexter checking up on my day, then it was my other manager Joseph trying to get my measurements over to Onyx; who is crafting up all of my performance looks, and then it was my publicist Len checking in to see if I was running on schedule as planned. I was like can the doll breathe for a minute? And the answer was no, because I was one of the many invited celebrity guests, and this was a big night out on the charity circuit - benefiting The American Foundation for AIDS Research. The theme this year was art deco inspired - chic black, red, white, or a combination of them all; hence the invite design (pictured) - and the doll was on top of it.

I attended the event with Len (pictured), pressed, and camera-ready for the papparazzi to capture all the glitz and glam of "the" arrival. Among the other celebrity guests present, their was Queer Eye's Carson Krestley, Super Model Devon Aoki, and Aiden & Megan Turner to name a few. It was wonderful to be there in a room filled with all kinds of people donating tons of money to a wonderful cause, and at the same time having fun. And yeah, you too can be part of such wonderful events, by visiting www.amfar.org . They have all sorts of events happening throughout the year that you can purchase tickets to attend or you can just simply make a donation on their site.

amfAR Rocks is a restaurant tasting and dance party in support of Aids Research. Over 1,000 New Yorkers danced the night away to DJ personality Lady Bunny's pumping disco treats, while sampling some of the city’s finest cuisine; which was on point, honey! Guests were also able to bid on items in an exclusive silent auction and participate in a raffle of luxury goods. The event is organized by a volunteer committee of artists and professionals; one of many being my business manager Dexter (pictured with his husband Daniel), and is dedicated to mobilizing friends and colleagues in support of amfAR’s AIDS research programs and raising AIDS awareness among young people. Since 1992, amfAR Rocks has raised over $2.8 million in support of AIDS research, and diligently continues to raise even more in hopes to finding a cure, hellllio!

It is a great organization, and again I invite you to support them at www.amfar.org

Strutting in a Lucas Production

This blog is courtesy of the Wow Report

Dare We Call It Lucasfilm?
Wayne Anderson writes:

As I may have mentioned, I have been cast as an extra in Michael Lucas’ adult version of La Dolce Vita. Today, a fashion show was shot for the movie, and NYC’s downtown scenesters were out in full force. Playing the part of a paparazzo, I had camera in hand and was encouraged to take as many photos as I'd like (so I went hog wild). Kevin Aviance, looking every bit the triumphant diva, marched down the runway with his new dance track “Strut” blasting from the speakers [Kevin Aviance World note: which was licensed for the movie]. The seated crowd needed no prodding from the production staff to jump to their feet and applaud the return of a true NYC icon (I friggin' LOVED it). Amanda Lepore (who I have to say looked great) was also in attendance, as well as writer Michael Musto and, unless somebody spiked my drink and I hallucinated, I'm pretty sure I saw the Cowboy from The Village People! [Editors note: You did!]

Stay tuned to www.lucasentertainment.com for a release date. Also visit www.lucasblog.com to read about the day-to-day behind the scenes out-takes of the film. It's ovah - a definate must see.

The Charity Circuit

Last night I was invited to attend a charity event called "Skool'd" - a benefit for LGBT youth in need - at the Bo Concept Store on Madison Ave & East 30th Street. It was to honor and benefit two organizations. The Ali Forney Center; who's mission is to help homeless LGBT youth be safe and become independent as they move from adolescence to adulthood, and The Trevor Project; which is more of a helpline geared toward helping those in crisis, or those wanting information on how to help someone in crisis. Note that it is the only national 24-hour toll free suicide prevention hotline aimed at gay and questioning youth.

Matt Paco (pictured with me) of MTV was the producer of the event, and he did a remarkable job at getting all the fabulousness there. Miss Nita Aviance was turning it with the music, Milan was sporting a lovely fidero hat, and mistress Edy was there to host the evenings festivities. It was hot!

Susan Cagle (pictured) - as seen on MTV VMA's Pre-show, turned out an amazing performance of some songs from her latest album "the subway recordings". Very grunge! Check her out at www.susancagle.com

For more information on these two extraordinary organizations, and to lend a helping hand or write a fat check - visit: www.aliforneycenter.org & www.thetrevorproject.org. They are doing good work, and it is my duty to support what they do so well; which is making a difference in our society - The LGBT Community.
